President’s Update Summer 2025

Marnie Cryderman, President, KBLA
June 9, 2025

As I sit on the deck looking out over the lake — no winter jacket in sight — I’m reminded of how lucky we are to share this incredible place. While May kept us guessing, June is bringing the sunshine and the sense of community we all love.

Join Us: KBLA Annual Meeting, Saturday, July 5

We’d love to see you at the Gravenhurst Opera House on Saturday, July 5 at 10 AM for our Annual General Meeting. We’ll wrap by noon so you can get back to the lake. Can’t make it in person? Submit your proxy form and make your voice count.

Get Involved – We Need You

Want to make a real difference this summer? We’re looking for passionate volunteers to fill key roles:

  • Treasurer: Step in as Greig Holder retires. He’ll guide the transition.
  • Water Safety Chair or Committee Member: Rick Glatt is retiring — join the team to help maintain and promote safety on our lakes.
  • Boutique Co-ordinator: Help carry on Leslie Pinard’s great work by curating lake gear that reflects our community spirit and style.
  • Vice President: With Kim Train stepping into the President role, this impactful two-year term is now open — a great opportunity for community leadership.

Not ready for a big role? We need event volunteers too — even one day of help makes a big difference. Interested? Reach out to president@kahshebasslakes.com or volunteer@kahshebasslakes.com, or apply here.

Photo Contest is in Full Swing

Our annual KBLA Photo Contest is officially open — and we want to see your best shots of lake life! Start sending in your entries now. Details on categories and deadlines are shared on our website, so get snapping!

In Memoriam

As we always do, we’ll be honouring members we’ve lost this year at the AGM. Please email names and photos to: president@kahsheandbasslakes.com. If you would like to have your loved one memorialized on our website, please also include an obituary.

Rock Marker Update

Most markers and towers are in place. A few were delayed due to May’s storms, but will be installed shortly. Thanks for your patience — and safe boating!

Membership Renewal

If your membership was up for renewal, you should have recently received an email reminder.‍

Please consider renewing or upgrading your membership to support not only the health and wellness of our lakes, but our many worthwhile initiatives, events, and activities, such as marking the rocks in navigable channels, maintaining Nagaya Beach, water testing, new communication efforts, and sponsoring events such as the Photo Contest, Fishing Derby, and Regatta.

Many of your memberships will be up for renewal at the end of the year. In order to prevent your membership from expiring, you can enter your payment details so your membership automatically renews annually, or you can upgrade your membership to take advantage of our new member perks.

If you need help or have any questions about your membership or online portal: please email marketing@kahshebasslakes.com for support.

Summer’s here — let’s make the most of it. Show up, get involved, and enjoy every minute on the lake.
