President Train's Opening Salvo Summer 2025

Kim Train, President, KBLA
August 16, 2025

I hope you’re making the most of this hot summer on the lake! As your new President, I had the pleasure of meeting many of you at the Regatta over the August long weekend—it was such a fantastic turnout. We’re truly fortunate to have such a vibrant and engaged community, and I’m excited to serve over the next two years.

Fire Ban

We've been soaking up the sunshine and warm weather all through July and August—perfect for enjoying the lake! But with all this dry heat comes a higher risk of wildfires. To help keep our beautiful forests and cottages around Kahshe and Bass Lakes safe, please follow the current fire ban. Thanks for doing your part!

Regatta Fund Raiser

The Regatta was a huge success and so was our fundraiser for the Nagaya Beach refubishment. A special thanks to everyone who bought food and merch at this year’s Regatta—your support means we’ll be able to bring in fresh sand for the beach next season!

A special shoutout to Jesse Mirocca and his amazing crew of volunteers for making the event such a success. Also, a huge thank you as well to our generous donors, Frank Doran and Muskoka Springs, for helping make it all happen.

Get Involved – We Need You

Want to make a real difference this summer? We’re still looking for passionate volunteers to fill key roles:

  • Water Safety Chair or Committee Member:  Join the team to help maintain and promote safety on our lakes.
  • Boutique Coordinator: Help carry on Leslie Pinard’s great work by curating lake gear that reflects our community spirit and style.
  • Vice President: This impactful two-year term is now open — a great opportunity for community leadership.

Not ready for a big role? We need event volunteers too — even one day of help makes a big difference. Interested? Reach out to president@kahshebasslakes.com or volunteer@kahshebasslakes.com, or apply here.

Rock Marker Update

Our low water levels due to the lack of rain are making our rocky lake even more challenging. Please use care when boating and send an email to Daryl Nice our Rock Marker Chair to rockmarkers@kahshebasslakes.com if you see that one of the markers is broken or missing.

Membership Renewal

If your membership was up for renewal, you should have recently received an email reminder.‍

Please consider renewing or upgrading your membership to support not only the health and wellness of our lakes, but our many worthwhile initiatives, events, and activities, such as marking the rocks in navigable channels, maintaining Nagaya Beach, water testing, new communication efforts, and sponsoring events such as the Photo Contest, Fishing Derby, and Regatta.

Many of your memberships will be up for renewal at the end of the year. In order to prevent your membership from expiring, you can enter your payment details so your membership automatically renews annually, or you can upgrade your membership to take advantage of our new member perks.

If you need help or have any questions about your membership or online portal, please email marketing@kahshebasslakes.com for support.

Summer’s almost over, but it doesn’t mean we can’t look forward to the fall and enjoy the beauty that comes with the cooler weather.  Show up, get involved, and enjoy every minute on the lake.
